The week-long 16th international film festival of Kerala comes to a close today evening at Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from fifty eminent film personalities from around the world, about ten thousand delegates attended the festival noted for its mass participation. Twelve films competed for the top honour Suvarnachakoram award worth fifteen lakh rupees.Emerging from strength to strength, over a period of sixteen years, International film festival of Kerala has carved out a unique place for itself attracting film lovers from far and wide. The week long celluloid treat is coming to a close today. While the opening Chinese love story Under the Hawthorn Tree mesmerised spectators, the much acclaimed Black Blood also from China shocked the viewers as it projected the abject poverty in rural areas of an emerging economic power China.The competition section restricted to films from Asia, Africa and Latin America presented twelve films. Even if not in competition, India's official entry to Oscar, Malyalam movie Adaminte Makan Abu kept both Indian and foreign spectators spell bound even on repeat screening. Critics opined that if the film bags an Oscar in foreign film category it will not be a surprise.
