The spectacular opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games is on in the Chinese city of Guangzhou city now. China is show casing its past glory, heritage and culture in the ceremony.The 2010 Asian Games, also known as the 16th Asiad, will begin in Guangzhou, China, today. Guangzhou is the second city in China to host the Games. The Games will also be co-hosted by Dongguan, Foshan and Shanwei, the three neighbouring cities. A total of 476 events in 42 branches of sports will be contested by athletes, making it the largest event in the history of the Games. In all, the Games offer 3,986 medals.All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the Opening Ceremony from 5.30 pm onwards on Rajdhani and other channels today. Capsules on Daily Highlights will also be broadcast on all the days of the Games from 10 pm to 10.30 pm.
