16 people killed in Uttrakhand bus accident

Sixteen people have been killed and 15 others injured in a bus accident near Kirtinagar in Tehri Garhwal on Saturday.

The accident took place when the bus they were traveling in fell into a deep gorge and partially submerged in a small rivulet at Juyalgarh. The injured were admitted in the Base Hospital in Srinagar Garhwal from where 3 persons with serious injuries were referred to higher centre in Dehradun.

Chief Minister, Harish Rawat has announced a ex-gratia grant of Rs. one lakh each to the kin of those killed and Rs. 50, 000 each to the injured.

He also ordered a magisterial inquiry to go into the causes of the accident.
