Sixteen people have been killed in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. In Uttar Pradesh, ten persons were killed and five others injured today in two separate incidents of house collapse.
The death toll has reached 226 due to rain and flood related incidents. The flood condition continues to adversely affect around ten lakh population of more than twenty districts in the state. All the major rivers in the state are in spate due to incessant rains. Lakhs of people in the Terai region and eastern part of the state have been rendered homeless.
In Odisha, at least six persons were killed and seven others injured in separate lightning incidents in different parts of the state. Heavy rains together with thunder continue to disrupt normal life for the last 24 hours.
