16 killed in Nigeria ethnic clash

In Nigeria, unidentified attackers have killed at least 16 people and burnt down 20 houses in Tafawa Balewa town in the northern state of Bauchi in sectarian violence. The victims were members of Sayawa ethnic group, mostly Christians who are in majority in the town. The Sayawas have been ruled by Muslim traditional rulers, a situation which they see as being foisted on them for decades.Their demand for a separate traditional ruler has not been accepted by the government and this has led to periodical unrest.
