In Bihar a Patna Court on Wednesday awarded death sentence to 16 accused and life imprisonment to 10 in Infamous Laxmanpur- Bathe Carnage. 17 accused have been acquitted. Additional District and Session Judge IBP Mishra pronounced the Judgement. <br/><br/>Altogether 91 prosecutions witnesses were examined while the defence produced nine witnesses in their favour. 58 Dalits including 27 women and 10 children were massacred on the night of December 1, 1997 in Jehenabad (Now in Arwal) district of the state. The youngest victim was one year old child. <br/><br/>Four families were completely wiped out in the attack carried out by suspected Ranveer Sena. Court framed Charges against 44 in which three have been reported absconding. The case of these absconders had been bifurcated from the main case. <br/><br/>17 accused persons have been acquitted The Court framed charges against accused under 302,147 and 48 of IPC Section 27 of Arms acts for making unlawful assembly with a common object armed with a common object, armed with weapon to kill. Charges were also framed against them under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe Act. <br/>
