16 Assam districts reeling under flood water

In Assam, 16 districts are reeling under flood water. Helicopter services and machine boats have been pressed into service. Official sources in Guwahati said that rescue operation have been conducted in seven districts. Air force rescued 27 marooned people from Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh and bought to Dibrugarh. One minor was drowned at Khonamukh in Sivsagar district. In Majuli Island, flood water submerged low lying areas of Nine Sattras. Circuit house, jail and a CRPF camp also submerged in flood water. Dibru-Saikhowa National park and Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary submerged in flood water. Two elephant calf reported death at Dibru-Saikhowa.Surging water also affected Kaziranga National park. One lakh 11 thousand people have taken shelter at 87 camps.
