The 15th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) for Documentary, Short and Animation Film will be organised from January 28 to February 3, 2018 at the Films Division premises in Mumbai. <br/><br/>Organised by the Films Division, Information and Broadcasting ministry, the biennial event is the oldest and largest film festival for non-feature films in South Asia. <br/><br/>Festival director Manish Desai told mediapersons in Panaji this morning that the festival has received a record 790 entries from over 30 countries. <br/><br/>While around 200 entries have been received in the international category, the national competition category has drawn around 600 entries. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the prize money for the Golden Conch award given to the best documentary has been doubled to Rs. 10 lakh. <br/><br/>Golden Conch, Silver Conch and trophies with handsome cash awards are part of the competition in categories like best documentary, best short fiction and best animation film. <br/><br/>A business platform for documentary makers is being planned by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at the festival to help filmmakers find funding and screening avenues in India and abroad. <br/><br/>MIFF 2018 will screen films from Jammu and Kashmir and the North East under special packages. <br/><br/>Apart from films in various competition categories, best documentary, short and animation films produced in India and abroad will be also screened under special packages, including Jury retrospectives and best of festivals. <br/><br/>Special packages like Turkish and Russian animation films and French short films will also be a part of the festival.
