The 15th Kolkata Film Festival began this evening with screening of Mark Herman’s ‘The Boy in Stripped Pyjamasas’. Noted Film Maker, Mani Ratnam inaugurated the weeklong festival at Nandan Film Centre in Kolkata at a glittering function. Speaking on the occasion the State Chief Minister, Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee said that the package of the festival includes contemporary films of the Globe. Mr. Bhattacharjee said that the Young Film Makers will be benefitted by the festival as latest techniques and thoughts of the celebrated Film Makers will screened in the weeklong bonanza. Noted Film Director, Mrinal Sen, Actor, Soumitra Chatterjee, City Mayor, Mr. Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharjee also spoke on the occasion. Later, Mani Ratnam inaugurated an exhibition on birth centenary of renowned Film Maker, Bimal Roy. AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that altogether 228 Films of 56 countries will be screened during the festival.
