153 killed in Nigerian plane crash in Lagos

In Nigeria, all 153 people on board a passenger aircraft have been killed when the plane crashed into a building in Lagos.

Nigerian officials say the cause of the crash is not yet known.

The commercial aircraft was flying from the Nigerian capital, Abuja, to Lagos when it crashed and burst into flames.

There were chaotic scenes as onlookers and emergency services rushed to the crash site. Police, ambulances and the fire brigade are still trying to sift through the debris.

A few surrounding buildings were also damaged and caught fire. Three days of mourning was declared by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan as a shocked nation grappled with the tragedy.

The President also ordered the fullest possible investigation into the crash.
