The Rural Gender Champions Club of Tamil Nadu Central University, Tiruvaruar has selected 15 women from remote hamlets in the Cauvery delta region as rural gender champions.<br />''<br />''In a novel initiative, these women will spearhead the campaign in various villages against gender insensitivity and related issues. These champions will also work as change leaders to spread the information about usage of masks, maintaining social distance, importance of ensuring face and hand hygiene.<br />''<br />''The Gender Champions Club is an initiative of the Union HRD Ministry, which stresses on educational awareness programmes to eradicate the evil of gender inequalities in rural areas. The clubs focuses on activities aimed at creating opinion leaders and change agents from amongst rural women themselves.<br />
