In Afghanistan, at least 15 Taliban insurgents were killed in a joint Afghan and Nato forces operation in Sherzar district of eastern Nangarhar province last night. An International Joint Command release issued in Kabul today says, an operation was launched to locate insurgent weapons and disrupt their flow across western Nangarhar. According to the release, the Joint Force attempted to detain the individuals peacefully, but was met with hostile fire. A series of engagements followed, resulting in more than 15 insurgents being killed. In other operations, Joint forces arrested several Taliban insurgents and their supporters in Kandhar, Uruzga, Zabul, Helmand, Paktia and Khost provinces and recovered weapons and ammunitions from their possession.
