15 killed three injured in UP train jeep collision

In Uttar Pradesh 15 people were killed and 3 others seriously injured when the Mathura-Kasganj Express rammed into an overcrowded jeep at an unmanned railway crossing at Hathras this morning. The jeep was carrying 18 passengers, all coming from Sathia village in Sasni tehsil. According to police the injured people have been admitted to a hospital. Railway sources said the mishap took place when the jeep tried to cross the track even as the train was approaching.Railway authorities have announced financial assistance of 2 lakh rupees to the next of the kin of those killed in the accident. 50 thousand rupees will be given to the injured. Expressing his deep sorrow over the incident Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also announced one lakh rupees financial assistance for the close relatives of those killed and 50 thousand rupees for seriously injured and 25 thousand rupees for the persons with minor injuries. Rail traffic has been affected due to the rail accident on this section.
