In Afghan, 15 people including 8 children have been killed in a roadside bomb blast in Arghandab district of southern Kandahar Province. Agency reports say a roadside bomb hit the bus in which they were traveling. Meanwhile United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in its press release has described May 2011 as the deadliest month for Afghan civilians since 2007. A press release issued today said 368 civilians were killed and 593 injured in conflict-related incidents in the month of May this year. Georgette Gagnon, Director of Human Rights for UNAMA said this is highest number of civilian deaths since 2007 when UNAMA began documenting civilian casualties. The release says that anti-government elements were responsible for 82 per cent of all civilian deaths in May this year.
