15 hours long battle ends, two ULFA militant shot dead

In Assam, the troops of 65 Field Regiment of Red Horns Division of Army in a major breakthrough have eliminated two hardcore ULFA cadres in Bhokelikanda village under Kalaigaon police station in Udalguri district.<br/><br/> The fierce encounter between the Army and the ULFA cadres hiding in a house continued for more than 15 hours. The slain ultras have been identified as self-styled lieutenant Bosa Singh and self-styled sergeant major Bishnu Ram Deka alias Ankur Bania of 27 Battalion of ULFA.<br/><br/> According to Army sources, Bosa Singh is the right hand man of ULFA chief-in-command Paresh Barua and is known for extortions, subversive acts and was an explosive expert.<br/><br/>Based on a specific input, Army established cordon around the suspected houses. The militants opened fire on the search party injuring one Army jawan and a 10 year-old boy belonging to the house, who later succumbed to the injuries.<br/><br/>Substantial recoveries of arms and ammunition including satellite mobile phones and documents pertaining to Paresh Baruah’s outfit were recovered.<br/><br/>Army authorities claim that elimination of these two top ULFA cadres is seen as severe blow to 27 Battalion of ULFA which has influence in Karbi Anglong, Nagaon, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Udalguri and Darrang districts of the State.<br/>
