15 dead in Afghanistan explosion

In Afghanistan, 15 people were killed by a roadside bomb explosion in southern province of Helmand while at least fourteen people, including five Afghan soldiers, were injured in a suicide explosion in northern Kunduz province. The Governor Office in Helmand said the explosion hit a truck carrying civilians in the village of Khan Neshin on Friday. Meanwhile, a suicide bomber blew up a stolen police car packed with explosives this morning, injuring at least 14 people near an army checkpoint in northern Kunduz province. Provincial Governor spokesman Muhbobullah Sayedi said the blast destroyed several nearby homes in Chahar Dara district, the most volatile district in the northern region. The only person killed was the suicide bomber. Five Afghan soldiers and nine civilians were injured. Sayedi said several of the civilians were in their homes at the time of the blast.
