14th PBD also organised in Sri Lanka by High Commission of India

The 14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was observed in Sri Lanka with a programme organized by High Commission of India and its consulates today. The main programme organized in Colombo was attended by eminent personalities of Indian origin and High Commission officials.<br/><br/>Acting High Commissioner of India Mr. Arindam Bagchi in his address appreciated the good work done by persons of Indian origin (PIOs) in developing the country and strengthening relations between the two neighbours. He called upon them to invest in India's growth story as well as contribute to programmes like Skill India and Swachh Bharat. Mr. Bagchi underscored that PM Narendra Modi has been appreciative of Indians living abroad and has established a connect with them.<br/><br/>Most of the diaspora present were appreciative of India's government efforts to reach out to PIOs, particularly the scholarship schemes being implemented in Sri Lanka for them. A documentary film on Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was also screened on the occasion.
