1440 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Karnataka

In Karnataka, 1440 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported during last 24 hours taking the tally to 8,87,667. On the other hand 983 people recovered and discharged from various hospitals in the state and with this the total recoveries have gone up to 8,51,690<br />'' <br />''At present 24,150 active patients are taking treatment in the state among them 318 are in ICU. 16 Covid patients lost their life and the total fatalities have increased to 11,808.<br />'' <br />''The state tested 1,05,918  samples during the last 24 hours and the total number of tests have gone up to 1,13,03,158. AIR correspondent reports, Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar said that the State is fully prepared for the distribution of Covid 19 vaccine.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking in a function in Bengaluru yesterday he said that 29,451 vaccine distribution centres have been identified and 10,008 trained staff are ready and 2,855 cold storage centres are available for storage of vaccines.  He further said that Regional Centres are being set up in Bengaluru, Shivamogga and Bellary for distribution of the Covid vaccine.<br />'' <br />''Health care workers will be given vaccination in the first phase followed by frontline warriors, people aged above 50 years and people with co- morbidities.  Health Department already has 10 walking coolers and four walking freezers and government of India has promised the State to supply additional 3 walking coolers and two walking freezers.<br />
