Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna a total of 142 villages have been electrified across the country last week. Out of these electrified villages, six villages belong to Arunachal Pradesh, 80 in Assam, 16 in Jharkhand, 15 IN Meghalaya, five in Rajasthan, eight in Odisha, three in Uttar pradesh, five in Bihar, two In Karnataka, one each in Himachal and Chhattisgarh. <br/><br/>Addressing the nation on Independence Day, Prime minister Narendra Modi had said that the government has decided to electrify villages within 1000 days till 1st may,2018. Out of the 18,452 villages, 8,384 villages have been electrified till now. All electrification remaining 10,068 villages are under progress.
