As many as 14 thousand properties worth over one crore rupees each are under scrutiny of Income Tax Department as owners have not filed their income returns. <br/><br/>The investigation is in progress in these suspect transactions. The Finance Ministry In a statement said, in the first phase of Operation Clean Money, 18 lakh suspect cases were identified through use of data analytics where cash transactions did not appear to be in line with the tax profile of depositors. <br/><br/>The online verification in these cases was enabled and done in a record time of 4 weeks. The Ministry said, the success of the first phase was also attributable to the massive taxpayers' awareness and media campaigns on Operation Clean Money. <br/><br/>Operation Clean Money was launched in January, 2017 to analyse data of the persons who deposited large sums of cash and whose returns of income were not in sync with such deposits.<br/><br/>The release said,the demonetisation of high value currency notes led to quantum jump in Enforcement actions based on demonetisation data. 158 percent increase has been seen in the number of searches while seizures has also gone up to 106 percent. <br/><br/>Undisclosed income of over 15 thousand core rupees has been admitted by the people after the note ban. The effect of Demonetization is also clearly visible in the growth in Direct Tax Collections.
