14 MLAs belonging to Telangana resign, cutting across party lines

In Andhra Pradesh, protesting against the terms of reference of the Srikrishna Committee, 14 MLAs from the Telangana region tendered their resignations to Assembly Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday on a call by the all-party Telangna Joint Action Committee (JAC). All the 10 MLAs of the TRS, two of the Congress and one each of the BJP and the Praja Rajyam Party have tendered their resignations afresh to the Speaker.<br/> Meanwhile, Speaker has accepted another resignation tendered by a Telugu Desam MLA, C Ramesh belonging to Telangana region. The TDP MLA has tendered his resignation earlier in prescribed format. The Speaker has accepted his resignation after the TDP MLA pressed for it.<br/>Several persons including students, media persons and police personnel were injured when police resorted to lathicharge as violence broke out on the Osmania Campus in Hyderabad on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy has said an enquiry has been ordered in to the incident.<br/>The Budget session of the State Legislature Assembly and Legislature Counsel will begin today with Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan’s address.
