14 militants, 3 troops killed in Afghan fighting

Fourteen militants and three international troops died in fighting over the past 24 hours in Afghanistan. NATO's International Security Assistance Force on Saturday said 11 insurgents died in an overnight raid by Afghan and NATO-led troops in Sistanay, a village in the Nad-e-Ali district of southern Helmand province. It said a sizeable amount of black tar opium and a small weapons cache and bomb-making materials were found in the operation. <br/><br/>ISAF said in eastern Paktika province last night, forces called in an air strike against militants planting roadside bombs. Three militants, including a commander of the Haqqani network, were killed. In Khost province, just north of Paktika, a roadside bomb on Saturday struck the vehicle of the sub-governor of Bak district, who received minor injuries.<br/><br/>In another incident, the NATO command said an ISAF service member was killed but did not list the nationality or location of the incident. The British Defense Ministry said two British soldiers were killed while on foot patrol in Helmand on Friday.
