The big over 200-player Indian contingent is all set to rock the 20th Commonwealth Games, which begin in Glasgow, Scotland tomorrow. After hosting the Games for the first time in 2010, and bagging their highest ever over 100 medals, India is eyeing to better it's last performance and return home with it's highest-ever medal haul.Just like in Delhi in 2010, our Shooters and Wrestlers are the favourites at the Games, and they re most likely to win a major chunk of medas. Some events, however, have been removed from Shooting for these Games, with the Greco Roman category in Wrestling also not included. The pugilists also form a formidable group in our contingent, and there is a buzz that they will win quite a number of medals. There are high expectations from our big Athletics bunch this time around, the question is will they be able to repeat their last performance at the event? Even though Saina Nehwal is not taking part in these Games, stakes are high for in-form shuttlers, PV Sindhu, P. Kashyap, and Srikanth K. Weightlifting, Squash, Table Tennis, Gymanstics and Hockey could also get us a couple of medals. Tennis and Archery, in which we bagged 12 medals in 2010, including 4 Gold, have been replaced in the Glasgow Games, with Triathlon and Judo. Not much is expected from India in Judo, while there will be no Indian participation in Triathlon, Netball and Rugby. Swimming, Cycling, Lawn Balls and Para Sports are the other events, medals in which would be a great consolation for us. Let's just hope that our Indian contingent wrongs the critics and shine at the Glasgow Games like never before.
