<span style="color: #222222;">President Droupadi Murmu today said that young voters have the responsibility to raise awareness of the democratic process in the country. Speaking at the 13th National Voter's Day 2023, which was organized by the Election Commission of India, at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, she said, they are now actively participating in the election processes which is a good sign for democracy.<br />''<br />''The &nbsp;President said, the number of women voters has increased and it is a great achievement, especially for Indian democracy. She added that the Government must work to ensure that women's participation is increased in future elections.<br />''<br />''During the event, President Droupadi Murmu also distributed &quot;Voters Cards&quot; to the five youngsters who are going to vote for the first time.<br />''<br />''Speaking at the event Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said, it is a privilege to become voters and people must participate in the election process. He said that people are the reckoning force behind successful democracy.<br />''<br />''Lauding the Commission for conducting free and fair elections, Mr. Rijiju said, the way the Commission is working in the country set a great example for the world.<br />''<br />''Addressing the gathering Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, trust is the biggest legacy of the Commission because it is playing an exemplary role to raise awareness among the voters to participate in the elections. He said, the Young voters have the highest stake in democracy and they should come forward to participate in the election.<br />''<br />''During the event, &nbsp;the President also distributed National Awards for the Best Electoral Practices to State and District level officers for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections during 2022.<br />''<br />''The President also awarded the National Media Award to All India Radio News for carrying out an outstanding campaign for voters' awareness and education in the electronic media category. Director General of the News Services Division of All India Radio, Dr Vasudha Gupta received the National Media Award from the President.<br />''<br />''Since 2011, National Voters' Day has been celebrated on the 25th of January 25 every year, all across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India on the 25th of January 1950.<br />''<br />''The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process.</span>
