1399 non-small scale textile mills in operation till June 2017: Govt

Government has clarified that there are 1399 non-small scale textile mills in operation till June 2017. <br/><br/>Replying to supplementaries in Lok Sabha today, Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani said there were 682 non-small-scale closed textile mills in the country till the end of June 2017. <br/><br/>The Minister informed the House that the government has launched the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme for garmenting, textile, handloom, weaving segments for setting up of new textile units or expansion of existing units with bench marked technology. <br/><br/>Smt Irani also said Centre has also launched Scheme for Production and Employment Linked Support Garmenting Units in July last year under which an additional subsidy of 10 per cent is available to new textile units or expansion of existing units on their achieving their projected target of production and employment generation. <br/><br/>She also said similar benefit has also been extended for the made-ups segment.
