139 candidates with criminal charges in fifth phase polls in Bihar

In Bihar, 139 candidates out of 490 have criminal charges pending against them in the 35 assembly constituencies going to poll in the fifth phase on Tuesday. Of them, 75 candidates, including six women, have serious cases pending against them. An NGO National Election Watch has said almost all major political parties have given tickets to candidates with criminal background. The main opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal leads the pack with 65 percent such candidates followed by ruling Janata Dal (United) 59, its ally BJP 54, Congress 40 and Lok Janshakti Party 33 percent.
