13,700 crore rupee Integrated Action Plan for development of Naxal-affected areas

Planning Commission on Tuesday said that it has firmed up its views on a 13,700 crore rupee Integrated Action Plan for development of Naxal-affected areas. Addressing the Economic Editors' Conference in New Delhi Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said,the proposal will be sent for Cabinet approval by Wednesday. The plan aims at improving basic infrastructure in 60 Naxal-hit districts of the country.This includes roads,schools, power, health facilities and governance at the village level for effective delivery. It will be implemented in two phases. Under the first phase of two-year action plan, 3,000 crore rupees will be provided to the target districts for strengthening panchayati raj institutions. In the second phase, 9,000 crore rupees will be provided for developing basic infrastructure like road, power and schools.
