1317 cases of H3N2 reported in country from 1st January to 21st March this year

<span style="color: #222222;">Government on Tuesday said that a total one thousand 317 cases of H3N2 have been reported in the country from 1st January to 21st March this year.  H3N2 influenza virus has been in circulation globally as a seasonal influenza virus since the 1968 pandemic. <br />''<br />''In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar said, current H3N2 strain has always been transmissible among humans. She said, influenza viruses have a potential to keep changing, a phenomenon referred to as antigenic drift and antigenic shift. T<br />''<br />''he Minister said, however, the current strain is a seasonal influenza virus and no untypable or uncharacterised virus has been noticed in the Pan-India influenza-like illness  ILI or severe acute respiratory infection SARI surveillance. She said, with an aim to better prepare the country for any future public health emergencies, PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) has been launched with an outlay of 64 thousand 180 crore rupees. <br />''<br />''Dr Pawar said, it aims to support states in terms of setting up of Integrated public health labs, surveillance network, establishing critical care blocks & upgrading research infrastructure, besides providing funds under various other schemes including National Health Mission.</span><br />
