In Philippines, thirteen people were killed and nine others wounded in a gun battle between two Muslim warring clans in the town of Kabacan in North Cotabato province. A military official said today that the incident took place last night when members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front under commander Kineg started exchanging fires with the members of the Moro National Liberation Front. Among major causes rido includes land disputes, particularly those caused by disputed government surveys or ancestral land claims; political rivalries, mostly election-related; crime- related, including murder and proliferation of illegal drugs, competition over resources and businesses.
