13 killed as powerful typhoon Roke hits Japan

In Japan, at least 13 people have been killed in the powerful typhoon Roke that hit the country on wednesday. The storm, caused winds of 162 kilometers per hour speed, floods, damage and deaths. More than 200 domestic flights were cancelled, while at least two lakh households in central Japan went without electricity. In Tokyo, many rush hour commuter trains were suspended, leaving thousands of commuters stuck at the stations. Officials at the Fukushima Daichi plant, where engineers are still struggling with small radiation leaks due to tsunami damage, expressed relief that Typhoon Roke's driving winds and rains caused no immediate problems.
