In Indonesia, 13 people have been killed and nine remained missing after a boat sank off East Java province. An official said the boat sank due to strong waves off the Coast of Raas Island before noon on Saturdayday. He said 18 survivors have been found and expect the total passengers and crew to be about 40. The Indonesian archipelago of more than 17,000 islands has a poor sea safety record, and fatal accidents are common. About 25 people were killed off the resort island of Bali after their boat sank on Tuesday.
