In Nepal, thirteen Indians are among the fifteen killed in the air crash today at Jomsom the district headquarters of Mustang district . The private airlines of Agni Air 9 N AIG carrying sixteen passengers and three crew was heading towards Jomsom from Pokhara. The bodies of the deceased have been brought to Kathmandu and will be kept in the Teaching hospital for postmortem and identification.
Six persons were rescued among them three Indians which included the father , Tirumala Kidambi Sreekanth, nine year old girl Tirumala Kidambi Sreevardhini and six year old boy Tirumala Kidambi Sreepada. The others include two Danish citizens Mr. R. Andreas and Ms. T Emilie and the airhostess Ms. Roshni Haju The injured are being treated in Manipal Hospital Pokhara.
According to the list provided by the Airport rescue and Nepal Tourism Board the thirteen Indians who died in the crash are Mr K. Chaitanya , Mr. S.K Arora, Mr. H. Honda, Ms M. K Arora , Mr. R Honda, Mr. K.O Arora, Ms T Sachdev, Ms. G Sachdev, Mr. Sanaim Sudhar, Mr. G. Raman, Ms. Kumar, Mr Kumar and Ms. Latha Echambadi. The dead also include the pilot and co-pilot.
The Agni -air 9 AIG-Dornier plane carrying sixteen passengers and three crew crashed around 9.40 local time near Josom airport while trying to land . According to the airport authorities, the pilot had reported light indication problem while trying to land . The aircraft was diverted back to Pokhara and while turning left it descended and crashed near Josom Mountain resort hotel at an altitude of 9000 feet.
India has set up round-the-clock helplines in its embassy in Kathmandu to provide information on the air crash.External Affairs Minister S M Krishna is directly in touch with country's Ambassador to Nepal. Expressing condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives in this accident the minister said in a message that he was deeply saddened to hear about the tragic air crash.
The last plane crash had taken place in September 25 last year in which ten Indians were among the eighteen killed on the outskirts of Kathmandu while on a mountain viewing flight.
