A local court in Mumbai today extended the police custody of two persons arrested recently in connection with July 2011 blasts in Mumbai. The police custody of Naqi Ahmed and Nadeem Sheikh who were arrested on January 12 in connection with the July 13 triple blasts in Mumbai has been extended till February 10. Both Nadeem and Naqi suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative were arrested by the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly facilitating the blast. The ATS probing the case told the court that it wanted to investigate the source of the explosives and various other materials and also about the role of the duo in channelizing the hawala money used to carry out the explosions. Meanwhile, a local metropolitan court had yesterday granted ATS the custody of third accused Haroon Naik till February 10. However, the alleged mastermind behind the blast, Indian Mujahideen operative Yasin Bhatkal is still at large.
