12th five year plan aims for sustainable, inclusive growth: Natarajan

The Environment Minister Ms. Jayanti Natarajan has said that the focus of the 12th five year plan will be sustainable, faster and of more inclusive growth. Ahead of United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, UNCSD, also known as Rio Plus Twenty, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June next year, Ms Jayanti Natarajan said, India will make all possible effort to improve the quality of life of common people.

She was inaugurating a two day Delhi Ministerial Dialogue on Green Economy and Inclusive Growth in New Delhi today. She said the priorities of government will be to focus on plurality and reduction of disparities. Ms. Natarajan said, India has recognized interlinking of growth with social aspect as well as environment concern.

Addressing the delegates, the Minister said, the Delhi Dialogue aims to support the preparations for Rio + 20 by providing a platform for international deliberations on opportunities for a green economy to reinforce countries' poverty eradication and social development agendas. She said these agendas include enhancing food security and energy security of the poor.

The conference is attended by high level government officials and delegates from 54 countries and 12 UN agencies.
