Nation is paying homage to the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and other dignitaries paid tributes to Pandit Nehru at his memorial Shanti Van in the national capital. A series of functions is being organised to highlight his contribution to nation building. The day is also celebrated as Children's Day. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion of the closing ceremony of 125th Birth Anniversary of the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, in New Delhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was instrumental in developing India as a strong democratic power in world's prism. Describing Pandit Nehru as a world leader, Mr Singh said, Nehru supported the concept of Public-Private Partnership which is still very much present in the Indian society and is one of the easiest way of development.<br/><br/>Mr Singh said, several pioneer institutions were established by Pandit Nehru so that India can become self-reliant in the field of science and technology. He said children of the country need to focus on science and technology to take India forward.
