The Indian Navy has so far arrested 120 Somali pirates as part of its fight against the menace of piracy. This was stated by the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma after inaugurating a health-camp organised by the Navy in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Admiral Verma asserted that India's naval force is one of the strongest forces, not just in west Asia, but in the entire world.
About a couple of vessels that had run aground on the Mumbai coast in succession a few months ago, the Navy chief said, the incidents had taken place due to some technical problems. He said there was no breach of security involved.
Highlighting the purpose of the health camp, Admiral Verma said that it was to reach the common man and attract youths to the Naval force.
