In a road accident in the wee hours of today in Bareilly, in Uttar Pradesh, twelve persons were killed and fifteen others injured.
The police said that a bus, which was going from Bahraich to Delhi, turned turtle and collided with a road side tree when it tried to avoid a pothole on the road.
The fateful incident occurred under Fatehganj Purwi police station area of Bareilly around five this morning.
Talking to AIR the District Magistrate of Bareilly said that chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced five lakh Rupees compensation to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50.000 to the injured .
Besides, free medical treatment will be provided to all the injured. The DM said the death toll may increase as some of the injured are said to be in a very critical condition.
All the fifteen injured have been admitted to the hospital of Bareilly. Most of the passengers are said to be natives of Bahraich, who were going to Delhi.
