’12 killed in road accident in Uttarakhand

At least 12 people are feared killed in a road accident in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand today. As per official sources, the cause of the accident may be inclement weather. Earlier 11 people were killed in an accident in Pithoragarh on Monday when a bolder fell on a vehicle. Meanwhile, people are facing difficulties due to the prevailing cold conditions in the hilly state. In view of the road mishaps in Uttarakhand, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Radha Raturi has directed the District Magistrates to conduct vehicle checking campaigns to stop such accidents. She has also requested the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary-Transport to direct the concerned officials to control the accidents by making necessary provisions. She said that the work of distribution of voter slips to the electorate is in progress. She assured that all voters whose name figure in the voters list, would be able to cast their vote in the elections.
