12 killed as supermarket roof collapses in Latvian capital Riga

Rescue efforts continued through the night in the Latvian capital, Riga after the roof of a large supermarket collapsed, killing at least 12 people. Emergency teams are looking for dozens of more people who are feared to be still buried under the rubble. Reports say, the supermarket roof collapsed when the shop was full of customers.

Around 20 minutes later, another part of the roof caved in. Eyewitnesses said, the customers tried to run away after the first part collapsed, but the supermarket's electronic doors closed trapping people inside.The cause of the collapse has not been confirmed by the authorities so far.
