In Manipur, 12 cadres of the banned outfit Pakan Reunification Army including the Private Secretary to the Commander-in-Chief of the outfit have surrendered to the Government.The militants laid down their weapons today in front of Director General of Police, Manipur Y. Joykumar and Inspector General of Assam Rifles(South), Major General C. A. Krishnan in Imphal on Tuesday. The surrendered militants handed over one AK-56 Rifle and one LMG, five 9 mm pistols and ammunitions and 2 wireless sets of communication.Major General Krishnan said that a joint coordinating effort with people’s support is needed now to enhance the pace of spreading message for peace in the state. He said that Assam Rifles will extend all possible help to the state administration in its endeavour to rehabilitate surrendered militants properly.DGP Joykumar said that everyone should encourage the militants who are coming out voluntarily to join the national mainstream.It may be mentioned that the newly formed proscribed group was having only 21 cadres of which five had already been killed by the Assam Rifles and 12 surrendered on Tuesday.
