11th round of Nepal PM election today

Nepal's parliament is conducting 11th round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister this afternoon after the 10th round held yesterday failed to elect a new head of the government. Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel is the only candidate contesting the election following the withdrawal of Maoist Chairman Prachand from the electoral race on 26th of last month. In yesterday's voting, Poudel garnered only 109 votes in his favour, far below the 300 votes required for his election. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that today's polling is unlikely to succeed in electing a new Prime Minister as the Maoists, CPN-UML and some other parties have decided to abstain from the voting process. Nepali Congress with 114 seats in parliament requires support of at least 196 members to get elected.
