11th Mumbai International Film Festival from 3rd to 9th Feb

The eleventh Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short & Animation Films will be inaugurated at 6 p.m on Wednesday. It is a week long festival which will last till the 9th of this month.<br/><br/>Veteran film maker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mr.Yash Chopra will inaugurate the festival.<br/><br/>The venue of the festival is the National Centre for Performing Arts, NCPA, Nariman Point, Mumbai. It will showcase sections like the Indian Competition, South Africa, SAARC, films from Brazil, Oscar Films, Classics, Film Memoirs, films from North-East India, films from Jammu & Kashmir and films on the Second World War.<br/><br/>The best film will be awarded a Golden Conch and Rs 3,00,000 cash prize.<br/><br/>Another Golden Conch and Rs 3,00,000 will be awarded for the best film over 30 minutes duration. Other awards for animation film, fiction film and student’s film will also be given.<br/><br/>Government of Maharashtra’s Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari will give a Trophy and Rs 1,00,000 for best debut film of a director. ‘Dr. V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be given to an Indian film maker for his/her contribution to documentary film movement.<br/><br/>This year the festival has received more than 800 entries from 40countries.
