11th Mumbai International Film Festival begins today

The 11th edition of Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films, M.I.F.F, organized by the Films Division will begin on Wednesday. The festival will continue till 9th February, 2010 at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai. Addressing a Press Conference in Mumbai on Monday, Festival Director Mr Kuldeep Sinha said that veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra will inaugurate the seven-day festival.<br/><br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan will grace the occasion.<br/><br/>The opening films will be 'On the Tiger trail' by Naresh Bedi and 'Viola' by Shih-Ting Hung.<br/><br/>A total of 200 films from 37 countries will participate in the festival in different categories, including Puppet Film section, Cinema Legends, Science Fiction, Environment, North East India and newly-created Best Student Cinema section.<br/><br/>Country in Focus section will have Bhutan and Switzerland and there will only be one competition section. The festival will conclude on February 9.
