After a decade of celebrations across the world , the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is all set to stage the IIFA weekend and IIFA Awards in the exotic island of Sri Lanka.The 11th edtion of the IIFA will be held in the island nation’s capital , Colombo from June 3rd to 5th 2010Amitabh Bachchan, the brand Ambassador of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) today speaking at the first launch event, spoke of cinema as a tool of building bridges between communities and nations.He further said that ‘on behalf of IIFA , we are very happy to bring the IIFA experience to our hospitable neighbour , Sri Lanka. As a member of the film industry , I look forward to another luminous decade , as IIFA journeys forth , sharing the Indian cinematic movement with the world , and simultaneously share with the world , the emerald isle Sri Lanka ‘.Coming close on the heels of the end of three decade old ethnic conflict, IIFA will present a huge opportunity to show case itself as one of the finest and cheapest tourist destinations in the world .Sri Lanka hopes that besides giving the much needed fillip to the local film and culture industry, the occasion gives a good opportunity to promote the island nation as an ideal place for film locale.The FICCI-IFFA Global Business Forum 2010 which is scheduled to be held on the second day of the IFFA weekend is an endeavour to bridge boundaries between India and Sri Lanka and also will be used to further trade and cinema.Sri Lankan government is also seeing its as a potential to promote tourism in a large way and also to increase business opportunities in the island nation.
