116th birth anniversary of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga celebrated in Tamil Nadu

<span style="color: #222222;">The 116th birth anniversary of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga, a renowned freedom fighter who worked with Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose is celebrated in Tamilnadu on Monday. Muthuramalingam, who was born in Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district also played an important role when the Indian National Army was formed and was instrumental in organising the Tamils living in South East Asian Countries. People of the Thevar community celebrate his birthday as a festival in the Southern part of Tamilnadu. <br />''<br />''His birthday is also celebrated in Kolkata where the Thevar community families reside. The eleven day festival is marked with guru pujas in the districts. Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin paid his respects to Muthuramalinga Thevar and also participated in the 61st Guru Puja Ceremony of the late freedom fighter. He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a flyover. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L Murugan in his social media message has said that Muthuramalinga Thevar treated the National and Spirituality as two eyes. He said that he served the Nation with sincerity and dedication and was a bold freedom fighter who was an inspiration to people to join the freedom struggle.</span><br />
