To strengthen the political, social and financial efforts made in the field of health care, the health ministers from 11 South-East Asian countries will mark their participation in a health conference in Jaipur from on Monday. Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate The 4 day long conference organised by World Health Organisation (WHO) and will focus on health related problems prevalent in these countries.
29th Meeting of Health Ministers of the Region is a forum for exchange of national experiences and strategies relating to the political, social and economic dimensions of health. This will be followed by the Sixty-fourth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia India, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldive, Thailand, Indonesia, Timor and North Korea are the countries facing similar challenges like malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, increased IMR and MMR and excessive use of antibiotic drugs.
Health ministers and experts of these countries will discus and prepare strategies to counter these problems in 4 days conference.Nearly 70 percent of the malnourished children of the world live in South East Asia and more than one crore children in this region are not vaccinated against life threatening diseases like Diphtheria and Tetanus. WHO has announced year 2012 as routine immunization year and joint strategy in this regard is also accepted in this conference.
