In the Democratic Republic of Congo, eleven militia members have been sentenced to death for their part in an attack that left two UN staff dead. During the attack in the town of Mbandaka in April, local militia overwhelmed UN and government troops and briefly seized the airport. The unrest followed clashes between two ethnic groups over fishing rights. Some 36 men were initially charged, but four were acquitted and the rest were given prison terms.
