In Nigeria, eleven people have died in a stampede at an election rally in the southern city of Port Harcourt. Police said, at least 29 others were injured. The rally was part of President Goodluck Jonathan's election campaign ahead of a poll due in April. President Jonathan has ordered an investigation and said the incident was sad, unfortunate and regrettable. Witnesses say the stampede happened after police fired into the air, apparently to control the rush of people out of the crowded stadium.
