In Karnataka, 11 members of the dreaded Dandupalya Gang have been awarded death sentence by a special court in connection with 14 cases of dacoity, rape and murder. 34th City Civil and Sessions Judge H R Srinivasa pronounced his judgement yesterday against the gang members who had created terror by their crude methods and ruthlessness. The Judge observed that the crimes committed by the gang members were so brutal that they were fit to be considered to be rarest of rare cases. The gang members were arrested in 1999 and 2000 after a determined bid to nab them launched by the then Joint Commissioner, Suresh Babu.
