In Gujarat, total 1083 candidates remain in fray after the scrutiny of nomination papers for second phase of polling in 95 Assembly constituencies. 291 nomination papers out of total 1374 were rejected during the scrutiny.
Final picture of contest will be clear by tomorrow evening after the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers.
Second phase of polling in for 95 Assembly Constituencies spread over Kutch, North and Central Gujarat will be held on 17th December.
Meanwhile, 846 candidates are in final fray for first phase of polling in 87 Assembly Constituencies in Saurashtra, South Gujarat and some parts of Ahmedabad district. Polling for first phase will be held on 13th December. Counting of votes will be taken up on 20th December.

AIR correspondent reports, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha- Sushma Swaraj and party leader Smriti Irani are actively campaigning for BJP in Gujarat poll, while Congress campaigning in the state will also lead by party president Sonia Gandhi. But both the parties are not so liberal in giving tickets to the women candidates.
BJP has fielded only 19 women candidates in 182 seat state assembly poll, which is even less than previous poll, while Congress has fielded only 12 women candidates.
Congress women candidate Shweta Bhatt, wife of suspended IPS officer-Sanjiv Bhatt is contesting prestigious Maningar seat against Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Similarly, Jagruti Pandya, wife of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya is contesting Ellisbriedge seat on the ticket of Gujarat Parivartan Party- and the fight of these both the women candidates will certainly prove very interesting.
